Here is a reel on the old flute:  [The Contradiction]

This flute belonged to the great-great-great-grandfather of my friend Aaron Harding.  It's exact age is not known, although it is believed to predate the American Civil War.

It is made of blackwood and German silver keys and fittings.  The tone holes are medium-sized, and the touch of the long F key had been broken and lost in posterity; it has been repaired with a touch from a bassoon key.

There is no maker mark on this flute to be found.
